Headed out from my sister's house in San Diego at 3:30 am Sunday Aug 15 for a week in Baja. After 12 hours & 430 winding up & down slow miles due south on Hwy 1 we took a right & traversed a surprisingly good dirt/gravel/caliche road about 27 miles to our camp site at Punta Maria, Baja Mexico.

Crystal clear blue water, small beach break only most of the day, fantastic weather, the scenery didn't suck. Fortunately neither did the fishing. I'm wearing one of those fashion statement elbow wrap things right now since all the fish we caught caused my tendonitis to flare up again. Quite worth it.

We caught Halibut, Corbina, Corvina, Kelp Bass, Sheephead, Croaker, Yellow Fin Perch, dreaded Lizardfish, Tyler caught some Skate lookin thing and a couple others I don't remember. Only kept the ones we ate. Gill nets are a problem there. My brother in law put a couple 15 lb Pacific Sheephead on the dinner table with his speargun in about 5 mins off the rocks one afternoon. We hadn't caught any of them since we didn't have bait so he suited up and shot us a couple. lol They were delicious. They are in definite need of an orthodontist though. We caught some more after hooking up with some of his buddies that are there all summer every year, they had bait. Biggest was 24 pounds I think. That was it for people we saw except 3 locals that stopped by to say hello.

Fantastic trip, one of our best, didn't have a single problem except for running low on beer & we even made a desperate 4 hour beer run!!! Pretty remarkable for a trip that remote. We were searched 2 times & checked 5 total coming home (13 hrs.) by the Ferderalies but had them laughing after each stop.

Great trip. Highly recommend it!
