Report by 'Some Beach'

We hit the beach around 9:00 a.m. Sat and started heading south. We fished under the birds on the way down catching skip jacks and whiting. The water was clear with very little weed. The longshore current was strong and heading north. Made it to the jetties around 3:00 p.m. No birds and little activity so we headed back north a few miles until we found a good cut.

Yaked out a bait around 3:30 and 5 minutes after deployment the rod gets a good run but drops the bait.

We immediately deploy four more baits and Jack is soon hooked up on our first shark of the trip.

I could be getting these sharks wrong but I think this was a 42" Blacknose Shark. It was tagged and released.

I soon get hooked up

A nice 4'5" blacktip is soon on the beach.

Shark was tagged and released.

All the blacktips that we caught had remoras on them.

Jason soon gets hooked up

He quickly lands a 43" Blacknose Shark. Shark was tagged and released.

Just as the sun was setting I get hooked up.

After a good fight I land another blacktip that was 4'6".

We crashed for the night and awoke to calm conditions. We caught fresh bait and started to deploy baits. Brian soon gets hooked up with first shark ever.

He soon lands a 45" Blacknose Shark

A little later Jack hooks into another Blacknose

Then we had a change of pace when a sea turtle got hooked on one of his flippers. It was released unharmed.

I soon get hooked up again. We saw this shark jump in the 3rd gut as the rod began to sing.

After a good fight I land this 4'7" blacktip.

Jason soon catches another Blacknose.

Jason then yaks out to fish feeding under a huge flock of birds and is quickly rewarded with a nice bonita for bait.

Brian soon gets hooked up on his second ever shark

After a good fight he lans this 4'2" blacktip.

Just as sun was setting and we are about deploy new baits for the night fish We get a big run and Jack goes to work.

30 minutes later Jack has the fish in the first gut and is tryin to get it over the bar.

Jack finally gets it in the wade gut and we see it's a big stingray. We try to leader it but cannot get it in. We can grab the leader but when we pull it makes a big run and we cannot hold it. I grab my Diawa on my long rod and Jason hooks in to the front of the leader and Jack and I both fight it in.

Jack with one big piece of bait.

It was too late to deploy any baits so we called it quits for the night and got early Monday and headed for home. All in all a great trip and congrates to Brian on his first sharks.
